# Submissions

> List, show, delete, export, and email form submissions, and read form insights.

A submission is one person's answers to a form. For fields and response details, see the API reference for [listing submissions](https://apidocs.neetoform.com/api/submissions/list.md), [a single submission](https://apidocs.neetoform.com/api/submissions/get.md), [exports](https://apidocs.neetoform.com/api/submissions/export.md) and [insights](https://apidocs.neetoform.com/api/submissions/insights.md). To find a form id, see [Forms](https://apidocs.neetoform.com/cli-reference/forms.md).

## List submissions

This command lists the submissions for one form, oldest first by default (`--order desc` for newest first), with each answer alongside the question it responds to. Only completed submissions are listed unless you pass `--status`. Use this when you want to read what people submitted, or to find a submission id.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms submissions list 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 --json
```

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms submissions list 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 --submitted-after 2026-10-12 --order desc --json
```

**Required arguments:**

* `<form-id>` - The form's UUID, from `neetoform forms list`

| Flag | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `--order` | `string` | | | Sort by submission time: asc (oldest first, default) or desc |
| `--page` | `int` | | `0` | Page number |
| `--page-size` | `int` | | `0` | Items per page (max 100) |
| `--search` | `string` | | | Only submissions whose answers match this text |
| `--status` | `string` | | | Which submissions to list: completed (default), incomplete or all |
| `--submitted-after` | `string` | | | Only submissions at or after this ISO 8601 date (YYYY-MM-DD) or date-time |
| `--submitted-before` | `string` | | | Only submissions before this ISO 8601 date (YYYY-MM-DD) or date-time |

`--status` accepts only `completed`, `incomplete`, or `all`. `--search` keeps submissions whose answers match the text.

Each entry in `responses` follows the form's current question order, and `kind`
names the field type the question was built with, which is what decides the shape
of `value`. `--submitted-after` is inclusive and `--submitted-before` is exclusive;
both take `YYYY-MM-DD` (midnight UTC) or a full ISO 8601 date-time. A question the
person skipped has no entry, so to build columns, key answers by `slug` and take
the column list from `neetoform forms show`.

On a terminal the table gives each question a column of its own, in that same
order, alongside `id` and `created_at`. `field_values` and `user_agent` have no
column, so read a submission in full with `--verbose`:

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms submissions list 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 --verbose
```

## Show a submission

This command shows one submission, completed or not, with its answers in the form's question order and its payment status. A question the person skipped has no entry.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms submissions show 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 f1c0d5e2-8a44-4c17-9d1e-2b6f4a8e37c5 --json
```

**Required arguments:**

* `<form-id>` - The form's UUID, from `neetoform forms list`
* `<submission-id>` - The submission's UUID, from `neetoform forms submissions list`

```json Sample output (--json) theme={"system"}
{
  "data": {
    "id": "f1c0d5e2-8a44-4c17-9d1e-2b6f4a8e37c5",
      "device_type": "desktop",
      "operating_system": "macOS",
      "operating_system_version": "26.5"
    },
    "responses": [
        "label": "What is your name?",
        "position": 1,
        "kind": "short_answer",
        "slug": "what-is-your-name",
        "value": "Oliver Smith"
      }
    ]
  }
}
```

## Delete a submission

This command moves one submission to the trash. You can restore it from the trash in NeetoForm. The command runs at once and does not ask you to confirm.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms submissions delete 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 f1c0d5e2-8a44-4c17-9d1e-2b6f4a8e37c5
```

**Required arguments:**

* `<form-id>` - The form's UUID, from `neetoform forms list`
* `<submission-id>` - The submission's UUID, from `neetoform forms submissions list`

## Delete many submissions

This command moves several submissions to the trash and prints how many were moved. Ids that do not belong to the form, or are already in the trash, are skipped.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms submissions bulk-delete 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 --ids f1c0d5e2-8a44-4c17-9d1e-2b6f4a8e37c5,2c7f4a1e-6a0b-4d7e-9c55-1b3c9f0d8e21
```

**Required arguments:**

* `<form-id>` - The form's UUID, from `neetoform forms list`

| Flag | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `--ids` | `string` | Yes | | Comma-separated submission IDs to move to the trash |

## Email the respondents

This command sends an email to the people who made the chosen submissions. Each message goes to the address in the email question you name, and the emails go to real people. They are sent in the background, so the command only confirms that they are queued.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms submissions send-responses 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 \
  --ids f1c0d5e2-8a44-4c17-9d1e-2b6f4a8e37c5 \
  --email-question-id 3a9b6c11-5d72-4e88-a0f3-91c47de2b6aa \
  --subject "Thanks for your response" \
  --body "<p>Hi, we got your response.</p>"
```

**Required arguments:**

* `<form-id>` - The form's UUID, from `neetoform forms list`

| Flag | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `--bcc-emails` | `string` | | | Comma-separated BCC addresses |
| `--body` | `string` | Yes | | Email body as HTML |
| `--cc-emails` | `string` | | | Comma-separated CC addresses |
| `--email-question-id` | `string` | Yes | | ID of the email question whose answer is the recipient address |
| `--ids` | `string` | Yes | | Comma-separated submission IDs to email, up to 100 |
| `--subject` | `string` | Yes | | Email subject |

You can email at most 100 submissions in one call. `--body` is HTML.

## Export submissions

This command exports submissions as a CSV, XLSX, or PDF file. The file is not printed. It is made in the background, and a download link is emailed to the recipient. The link works for 15 days, and if no submissions match, no email is sent.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms submissions export 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 --type csv --recipient-email oliver@example.com
```

**Required arguments:**

* `<form-id>` - The form's UUID, from `neetoform forms list`

| Flag | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `--ids` | `string` | | | Comma-separated submission IDs to export (default: all completed submissions) |
| `--include-hidden-fields` | `bool` | | `false` | Include hidden fields |
| `--include-meta-data` | `bool` | | `false` | Include submission meta data |
| `--include-question-descriptions` | `bool` | | `false` | Include question descriptions |
| `--recipient-email` | `string` | | | Team member email that receives the download link (default: you) |
| `--type` | `string` | Yes | | Export format: csv, xlsx or pdf |

`--type` accepts only `csv`, `xlsx`, or `pdf`. Without `--ids`, all completed submissions are exported.

## Show form insights

This command shows visits, starts, submissions, completion rate, average time to submit, and the split by device, operating system, and browser. It covers all time unless you give a date range.

```bash theme={"system"}
neetoform forms insights 7db4b04a-6e17-4af6-a1d6-650c4cba3f91 --start-date 2026-10-01 --end-date 2026-10-28 --time-zone Asia/Kolkata --json
```

**Required arguments:**

* `<form-id>` - The form's UUID, from `neetoform forms list`

| Flag | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| - | - | - | - | - |
| `--end-date` | `string` | | | Last day to include (YYYY-MM-DD); use with --start-date |
| `--start-date` | `string` | | | First day to include (YYYY-MM-DD); use with --end-date |
| `--time-zone` | `string` | | | IANA time zone such as Asia/Kolkata (default: your time zone) |
